New role delivers cost savings and better care
Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust saved more than £350,000 by developing a new Band 3 Advanced Theatre Support Worker role, with help from Skills for Health. Underpinned by the Skills for Health competency framework and supported by training at Level 3, the role freed up thousands of hours of registered practitioner time, saved on overtime and agency worker costs, and improved the patient’s experience through theatre. Return-on-investment analysis showed total savings per year of £367,174.
