By Skills for Health | 15 July 2026

Bronwen Hall, Senior Consultant in Workforce Planning, joined the Consultancy and Research team at The Workforce Development Trust in December 2025, working on projects across both Skills for Health and Skills for Justice. Six months into her role, we caught up with Bronwen to hear about her experience so far and what she’s looking forward to next.

What does your role involve?

My role involves delivering training on workforce planning, using the Six Steps Methodology to Integrated Workforce Planning® as a framework. This includes skills sprints and the Six Steps Open Programme, as well as standalone workshops and masterclasses.

I work closely with organisations to help them to develop their own workforce plans, whether it’s at a team, organisation, or system-level. This can include a range of activities, such as analysing workforce data, facilitating stakeholder interviews or focus groups, conducting staff surveys, collating evidence and information into a comprehensive workforce plan or strategy, and identifying realistic and sustainable workforce recommendations.

I work in partnership with clients across a range of sectors to explore and create novel solutions to common workforce challenges as they arise.

What is your previous work experience?

Before Skills for Health, I worked in a Commissioning Support Unit in the NHS as a Workforce Project Manager. In this role, I gained experience in designing, developing and delivering multi-level workforce plans in a range of contexts. I also supported NHS organisations to optimise their workforce and maximise productivity and efficiency, including supporting with business case development.

What makes you excited about working for Skills for Health?

I love getting the opportunity to work with a wide range of people and create opportunities to learn from one another. I like to think that I bring energy and creativity to my workforce planning approach, and I love that I get to work in a team where that is embraced by both colleagues and clients.

How does your previous experience relate to the work you do now?

During my time working in the NHS, I delivered work across a range of health and care providers, as well as across partnering organisations such as local authorities and charities. I deeply understand some of the common workforce challenges that exist across health and care and I can provide tried and tested solutions to our clients.

Are there any projects coming up that you’re particularly interested in?

I am really excited to be delivering the Six Steps Open Programme and piloting the Beyond Six Steps Open Programme with Skills for Health. These are great opportunities to make the knowledge and skills needed for workforce planning more accessible to a wider range of people across health and care. They are also how we can make workforce planning more sustainable and resilient, which is something needed across the health and care sectors right now.

Do you have any other work-related interests?

As soon as I joined Skills for Health, I was on a mission to find out more about our Carbon Reduction Plan and I quickly joined the Carbon Reduction Team. I am incredibly passionate about sustainability and recently achieved my Carbon Literacy certification in an effort to be more sustainable both in my personal and professional life.
