Meet the team – Zach Kerray

By Ant Robbins | 24 October 2019

“My belief is that communication is the best way to create strong relationships.” – Jada Pinkett Smith

A message embodied by Implementation Manager Zach Kerray. Take a few minutes from your day to discover why…

  • What experiences led you to work for WD Trust?

My experiences before working for Skills for Health were few and far between as I had only recently moved to the UK for the first time. I applied for a temporary job working on the Helpdesk for the then “Core learning Unit” (This was in 2009). I subsequently moved both myself and our eLearning department across to Manchester. After four years working on the helpdesk, I wished to undertake a new challenge. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time whereby the organisation was moving into the world of e-rostering implementation and I’ve been working within the Rostering Team ever since.

  • What does an average day look like for you?

Like most, it varies from day to day, I could be at home supporting our customers through our helpdesk, building rosters for clients, supporting the development team in producing the best version of Rostering we can and anything else that comes past my desk. If I’m out and about and visiting organisations, I could be either delivering training on a one-to-one basis, providing more formalised training and support to more senior members of the healthcare workforce. I could also be providing technical support to the Regional Directors during sales presentations. I do also spend rather too much time staring at Hospital maps trying to figure out where my meetings are taking place.

  • What do you enjoy most about your job?

The relationships. That’s not just with my colleagues both past and present but being able to build strong relationships with our customers and genuinely improving their working lives for the better.

  • What upcoming projects are you working on?

I’ve just finished working on a Nurse Rostering implementation, it was a real success for us as a team. I’ve also been working alongside NHS Employers and the BMA with the implementation of the updated T&C’s for the Doctors in training contract. We’ll also be looking to migrate all of our existing customers to our shiny new e-rostering platform, have no doubt this will keep me busy in the coming months, probably even years.

  • In a perfect world…

Kindness would be everyone’s first thought, people would let others get off a train before trying to board themselves and I’d have hair that resembled that of Jon Bon Jovi.
