As health and justice healthcare providers continue to face challenges recruiting and retaining staff within clinical and non-clinical roles, creating an attractive career pathway, and raising the profile for our health and justice sectors have become key priorities in shaping and securing the future workforce.
Commissioned by Health Education England South East, we are pleased to be developing career and competence frameworks for Children and Young People in the complex needs pathway, and the additional competences required to deliver healthcare within the Adult Secure and Detained Estate. This is part of a wider Health and Justice Inclusive workforce programme which NHS England and NHS Improvement have embarked upon “to improve the recruitment and retention of a larger, more diverse, inclusive and representative workforce for all Health & Justice services and programmes”.
Do you work within the adult secure and detained estate, or with children and young people in the complex needs pathway? Then we need your input.
Working together with expert panel members in both areas, we have created 19 draft competence-based role profiles. We very much want you to take part in our survey, reviewing and commenting on the draft profiles to ensure we develop roles that reflect what is needed in your sector.
Once the survey has closed, we will analyse the results, consider all the feedback, and revise the draft role profiles accordingly. This is your opportunity to help shape the workforce and to contribute to raising the profile of careers in our health and justice sector.

The survey will be live until 12 noon on Wednesday 7th April 2021 and it should take no more than 20 minutes to complete.
If you have any comments or questions about the survey, please contact our Senior Consultant Rosemarie Simpson.
