Examples of customised career frameworksAllied Health Professions Career Framework Allied Health Professions (AHPs) are a diverse group of professions, but they share a therapeutic focus on enabling patients to maximise their independence at whatever stage of their life or disease. Because the contribution of AHPs has not always been very visible, their potential to deliver patient-centred services and transform health and social care has not always been fully realised - hence the importance of the AHP Career Framework. The following developed resources can be used to develop a flexible and responsive workforce that starts with the needs of the patient. It has been developed by Skills for Health in partnership with the Allied Health Professions in all four nations of the UK: • a framework of competences that can be used in a number of ways, such as personal development planning • a resource of AHP and support worker roles already mapped to the career framework. Now more than ever staff working in these areas contributes to an improved quality of care delivery and productivity gains through directly supporting managers to identify trends and manage demand. This career framework covers a range of roles which can attract people into the health sector at all levels. It also provides the opportunity for career progression enabling the retention of staff who can reach their full potential and remain in the sector. Many new roles assist employers to use staff differently and be more innovative to create merged roles which can mix both administrative and clinical roles.
