Investors in People

Investors in People (IIP) is a development framework designed to help organisations achieve real improvement through its people. It’s about getting things right and not merely a tick box exercise.

Skills for Health offers the only UK health specific Investors in People diagnostic for healthcare organisations. Working with the support of national licensed IIP accreditation centres, our diagnostic service will help you quickly assess if your organisation is ready to apply for full accreditation or needs strengthening in specific areas.

    We are busy delivering care to our patients - Is this just more paperwork? No! Investors in People is not about producing paper based evidence. Investors in People is  achieved through evidence gathered by observation and interviews with staff.

    We are an NHS Trust – Isn’t Investors in People for the private sector? Any organisation from small to large from public to private can benefit from Investors in People – over 30000 organisations have already achieved the Investors in People standard. There are numerous examples of NHS organisations who have benefited from achieving Investors in People.

    Can Investors in People help achieve other quality standards? Yes! Investors in People is the only people standard that focuses on people, so the good practices that you need to follow will dovetail well with other quality standards.

    Isn’t this really about achieving a blue plaque for the boardroom and a lot of hot air? Investors in People isn’t about giving people an award and then allowing things to drift . Organisations are subject to regular review no more than three years apart. It’s an excellent way for employers to demonstrate their commitment to their workforce and get recognition for that.

    What support do you offer? Skills for Health provide bespoke support to best ensure organisations experience a successful assessment outcome.     How long will it all take? It depends how much you want to change in your organisation and how quickly this can be put into practice. Most organisations achieve Investors in People within a year.
