Competences/ NOS

As the Sector Skills Council responsible for the health sector, one of our main functions is to develop, manage and update competences/NOS as the needs of the sector change, as work patterns shift, and as new operational practices, legislation and technologies are introduced. This ensures competences/NOS remain useful and effective.

  • NOS for Sports Massage Therapy

Skills for Health is pleased to announce that the new National Occupational Standard (NOS) for Sports Massage Therapy has been approved. Working with The Sports Massage Association (SMA), initiators of the project and professional association for sports massage therapists, and in consultation with the sector, a NOS has been cooperatively developed  which describes a unique set of interventions carried out by sports massage therapists. This NOS will sit in the Complementary and Natural Healthcare suite of NOS on the Skills for Health Competence database which can be found here https://tools.skillsforhealth.org.uk/competence_search/
