Minister launches East of England SSA
The full Health Sector Skills Agreement for the East of England was launched on Friday 2nd November 2007 at the Hilton London Stansted Airport Hotel. Bill Rammell MP for Harlow, and as Minister of State, Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills, the lead Minister for the Leitch Report, was the key note speaker at this major event for NHS, Independent and Voluntary Health Sector employers.
Fit for the future
Following the proposals from the Government in 2006 for a national Sector Skills Agreement for Health, the East of England region, covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk has been charged with producing a specific regional plan, looking at the local predicted health and social needs of the population, in relation to the staff needed to deliver the required care. This has evolved into the Health Sector Skills Agreement for the East of England, a major project to be implemented over the next ten years.
The primary focus of the Agreement is to provide top quality healthcare, tailored to the needs of the patient and service users, by motivated staff with the correct level and mix of skills required and with educational support from institutions who have a clear insight into the needs and direction of the healthcare providers themselves.
Developed in partnership
The Agreement was prepared with the assistance of many employers and employees interested in provision and delivery of healthcare, working alongside the education providers to meet the needs of the predicted workforce.
