Skills for Health has brokered a new multi-million pound Joint Investment Framework between Strategic Health Authorities and the Learning and Skills Council, to improve skills in the healthcare workforce.
The Joint Investment Framework is being implemented over the next three years and will:
An important step in realising the Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) for Health in England, the deal will see the extra funds being injected annually to tackle skills gaps and shortages. By developing the skills of healthcare staff the aim is to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and the highest levels of service.
The Framework represents a major step towards achieving the demand-led skills system recommended in the Leitch review. Key recommendations from the Leitch Review of Skills Prosperity for all in the global economy – world class skills (November 2006) include:
Investment will be targeted at healthcare employees, funding Apprenticeships, Skills for Life and other skills development and qualifications at levels 2, 3 and 4. Find out more
