Respiratory and Rheumatology
In March 2006 Skills for Health undertook a project to develop competences required for caring for individuals with long term respiratory and rheumatology conditions.
Five new competences were developed which sit in the Clinical Health Skills suite of competences, as these competences, although developed as part of the Respiratory and Rheumatology Project are not specific to that area.
The five competences are:
CHS72 Help individuals to use oxygen safely and effectively
CHS73 Perform an aspiration and/or injection of joints and soft tissue structures
CHS74 Manage an individual's medication to achieve optimum outcomes
CHS78 Administer oxygen safely and effectively
CHS79 Support individuals who express a wish to stop smoking
