NWR Award Success

Skills for Health (SfH) and NHS North West are celebrating after scooping a prestigious award for the North West Rostering (NWR) Tool.

At a glittering ceremony in London, staff from SfH were on hand to collect the 2010 Healthcare People Management Association Excellence in Human Resource Management Award for Excellence in the category for supporting medical staff.

NWR was created through collaboration with Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the NHS North West Junior Doctor Advisory Team, as a solution for complex medical workforce management.  Despite being a relatively new tool, the judges were hugely impressed by the tool, commenting particularly on the benefits of junior doctor engagement in the design process.

Guidance on the requirements for NWR came from the clinical leads at both the host trust and strategic health authority, and the tool was developed, piloted and project managed by SfH’s tools team. Pilot sites in north west are already showing the positive effects of the tool and steps are underway to start a pilot project in London.
