Skills for Health supports the national 'Now is the time to invest in skills' campaign

Skills for Health has added its support to a movement spearheaded by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, which urges employers to continue to invest in skills throughout the economic downturn in order to emerge stronger.

Chief Executive of Skills for Health, John Rogers explains:

“There has never been a more important time to invest in skills; particularly for the healthcare sector, which is constantly subject to change and needs an agile, flexible workforce in order to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

“The sector is fortunate in that additional funding for skills training may be available to its employers; for example, the Joint Investment Framework – brokered by Skills for Health in England between the Strategic Health Authorities and the Learning and Skills Council – currently provides a rolling £100 million per annum of extra funding which can be used by healthcare employers to tackle skills gaps and shortages at a variety of levels.”

This funding provides the healthcare sector with a golden opportunity to both upskill its existing workforce and attract the best new talent.
